Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • 9×5-inch loaf pan
  • Wire cooling rack
  • Oven

Method

  1. Add warm water and honey to a large bowl. Stir in the yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add the flour and salt. Mix until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for 7–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl. Cover and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Gently press down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  6. Cover and let the dough rest for about 30 minutes, until it looks puffy.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
  9. Remove the bread from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

  • Use warm water, not hot water, so the yeast works properly.
  • The dough should be slightly sticky. Avoid adding too much flour.
  • Rising time can vary depending on the temperature of your kitchen.
  • Let the loaf cool before slicing for a cleaner, softer crumb.
